On the Union-Gelände, two illuminated symbols create a bridge between yesterday and today. Artist Fabian Thiele uses fragments of urban everyday life for his works „HOPE“ and the „Cross of Hope“ – letters and signs that once pointed the way to Frankfurt and Offenbach pharmacies. Today, they shine in a new context and speak of constancy and unwavering faith in tomorrow.
The Work HOPE (2025) consists of solid metal letters that were once part of the lettering for the „Bahnhof Apotheke“ (Train Station Pharmacy) in Offenbach. Under Thiele's hands, they transform into a radiant statement. It's a play on origin: where healing was once promised, confidence now shines. The rough aesthetic of the metal combines with the delicate glow of neon to form a sculpture that beams far beyond the grounds. At the exit to Lindleystraße, you'll find the Cross of Hope (2023 / 2025). This object – formerly the sign of the „Eichwald Apotheke“ in Frankfurt – has been reinterpreted. The green cross, a universal symbol of help and care, becomes an artistic anchor point here. Fabian Thiele preserves the soul of these urban found objects and transforms them into a light installation that reminds us: hope is not an abstract concept, but a glow that we ourselves keep alive.
